Testing… Testing…

Your dear old Uncle Flip has decided he might do something with this site again. The question is, what will I do with it? That remains to be seen…

Showing off their cans…

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

It’s something a lot of people in birmingham have been waiting for…  Today Good People Brewing Company is unveiling its first two can designs.  I can’t wait to see theese on store shelves!

This is just a test of remote posting.

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

Sorry to have this as the only post for October, but I’ve been out of town a lot lately- and I also haven’t been inspired to write. It’s not that there isn’t much going on in Birmingham, there is.  But for now this note will have to suffice.  It’s not even really a note- it’s actually a test of my phone’s voice recognition, and my newfound ability to post to the website from the phone. If all goes well, hopefully this will actually make me post more.  Oh, and the attached photo isn’t really relevant to anything, it’s just a test, too.

Your admin is an idiot.

I think I just bulk-deleted some comments by mistake. Many apologies.

Apologies for going off and leaving you.

Monday, January 18th, 2010

I realized tonight that my post about meeting Jimmy and Jeff was my first in well over two weeks. It’s not that Birmingham doesn’t have enough to offer; it’s just that I’ve been out of town, and had a few other things happening. The biggest interruption was a trip to Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show, during which I was also sort of abducted and forcibly given media credentials to the Adult Entertainment Expo. (Yeah…it’s a long story about the abduction. The expo also wasn’t quite what I expected. Next time you see me at J. Clyde, I might tell you the story.) I was disappointed that this year, I didn’t find anyone from Birmingham at CES (at least, no-one who would admit to being from Birmingham). There was one Corning employee who, during his demonstration of Gorilla Glass, mentioned he grew up in Sulligent. I was very shocked when he told me I was the first person he’d met who actually knows where Sulligent is.

But I digress. I’m back in the ‘Ham now, and will hopefully get some new posts up soon. It’s good to be back in the Tragic City.

Out In the Cold for a Cause.

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

If these folks are doing what they normally do on this street corner, this is filed under the best of the ‘ham. A fraternity at UAB camps out for a few days, collecting money for charity. It’s pretty cold out tonight, but they’re not ready to retreat and head for warmer ground. The only reason I question their motives today is that I was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection three times, and they didn’t approach me for cash. Hopefully tomorrow morning, their true motives will come out. ;)

Spam or ham?

Friday, November 13th, 2009

One of my posts recently racked up an interesting comment. It came from someone identified as loans cananda [sic]:

randomham.net is very informative. The article is very professionally written. I enjoy reading randomham.net every day.

I’m not really sure where to begin. First off, I don’t post every day. Second, it’s not really an article. Third….professionally written? Here? Me? I think not! (I don’t want this to be a respectable blog…)

I’m very tempted to go ahead and approve it, because I’m so amused. However, I hate seeing obvious spam comments on blogs, so I probably won’t.

BTW, I hope you can find at least two different meanings in the use of ‘ham’ in the title, based on context. I can. :)
